The International Food Safety Training Centre Malaysia (IFSTC) is a collaboration between JIFSAN, Delta Professional Consultancy and the Malaysia Ministry of Health. The Malaysian Ministry of Health reached out to JIFSAN directly to assist in enhancing their country's food safety and quality programs. The goal was to establish a training facility much like JIFSAN that would reach more stakeholders in the region. Unlike the other CTI’s the IFSTC has its own training facilities and has a history of working with international partners in much the same manner that JIFSAN works. It began with participants coming to JIFSAN for training in JIFSAN’s Risk Analysis and Laboratory Methods, followed by JIFSAN faculty going back to Malaysia and co-teaching the courses with individuals who were targeted as becoming ToT in Malaysia. The International Trainings in Food Inspection took place directly in Malaysia. From 2013-2015 sixteen training programs, on risk analysis, pesticide and veterinary drug residues analyses, microbiology testing, food safety laws, and food inspections, were conducted from 2013 through 2015. JIFSAN anticipates that the partnership will go beyond these training programs and contribute to the improvement of the food safety and quality system country-wide in this dynamic economy in the Asia Pacific region.
