US FDA-led training with JIFSAN assistance collaborated with the Marine and Fisheries Quality Assurance Agency (MFQAA) & the PT. Bumi Menara Internusa (BMI) to present two, two-day Seafood Sensory Decompensation training in Surabaya, Indonesia November 6-7 & November 9-10, 2023. The goal of the program is to provide a diverse field of Indonesian government and industry personnel with knowledge on sensory analysis of seafood as a critical tool used to protect consumers from seafood that has become adulterated due to decomposition. The integrity of the sensory program depends on the credibility of the sensory analysts and the way the analyses are conducted, reported, and interpreted for regulatory purposes. Their work will help to prevent exposure to food safety hazards and the resulting trade concerns with seafood products by achieving compliance with U.S. government regulations. A total of twenty-four participants attended the course from academia, government, and industry sectors.
