JIFSAN collaborated with the Fish Quarantine and Inspection Agency (FQIA) under the Ministry of Marine Affairs & Fisheries, Republic of Indonesia to present two, 2-day Seafood Sanitation workshops in Jakarta & Surabaya, Indonesia. These courses were held March 13-14 & March 16-17, 2023, to a diverse field of Indonesian government, industry, and academia participants. The in-person workshop focused on improving compliance with U.S. laws and regulations related to seafood sanitation in processing facilities. Furthermore, the courses provided a critical overview of proper food processing sanitation methods as well as assistance in the development and implementation of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Prior to the in-person course dates, participants were required to complete an Introductory Online Food Processing Sanitation course through the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension as part of the program.
