Dr Clare Narrod traveled to Bangladesh December 11-20, 2022, to further the project “Foodborne Pathogens in Bangladeshi Aquaculture Value Chains and the Most Cost-Effective Risk Reduction Strategies.” The project pulls together a group of researchers from Washington State University, International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh; University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Bangladesh; and Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP).
Prior to arriving in Dhaka, the team traveled to Mymensingh where they toured Reliance Aqua Farms (Village: Ukilbari, Bailor, Trishal), a wholesale market (Abdullahpur.) Subsequent days they visited a local retail market and a super shop in Dhaka near iccdrr-b.
In addition, Dr Narrod provided a 1 day training on Risk Analysis and the Regulatory Process to over 40 participants at the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA).
