JIFSAN collaborated with the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) to present a 4.5-day Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqPs) workshop in Chennai, India on January 9-13, 2023. This in-person workshop consisted of 3 full days of lectures and group exercises, a visit to a local working shrimp farm, and a half day of group presentations and discussions. The goal of this training is to provide a diverse field of Indian personnel with a technical approach on Good Aquaculture Practices to improve safety and increase production restrictions necessary to prevent and minimize the impact of diseases on aquaculture seafood. A total of 34 participants attended this training from the academic, government, and private industry sectors. Furthermore, two in-country guest speakers attended the training and presented on current shrimp diseases in India as well as their perspectives on the aquaculture industry.
